Leave a Legacy
Leave a legacy of your values and vision by naming Sertoma Star Services as a beneficiary of your will, retirement plan, life insurance policy, or other planned giving vehicle.
Legacy Society Benefits
We are grateful to everyone who includes Sertoma Star Services in their estate plans. When you provide Sertoma Star Services with your intentions, you will be listed as a member of the Legacy Society in our annual report to inspire others to give, and help ensure that your wishes are met.
Bequest
An easy way to continue your support after death is to designate Sertoma Star Services as a beneficiary in your will. The benefits include no immediate cash or property transfer in the donor’s lifetime and the potential tax advantages that may accrue to an estate. You can leave Sertoma Star Services a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate.
An attorney will assist you in making the best possible decision for you and your family. If using an attorney to create your will, please include Sertoma Star Services EIN (#23-7294685) and complete mailing address (1005 West End Avenue, Chicago Heights, IL 60411) in your will.
If you do not have an advisor, Sertoma Star Services is partnering with several who can assist you in determining the best type of gift that suits your circumstances.
Contact Pat Trebe, at the Development Office at 708-888-7418 or email ptrebe@sertomastar.org, for more information about your options. We can provide you with sample language for bequests.
Beneficiary Designations
Consider making Sertoma Star Services a beneficiary of your non-typical assets like IRAs, 401(k)s, pensions, payable-on-death bank and brokerage accounts, and life insurance policies. This is a great way to support the agency beyond a bequests in your will.
Gift Annuities
One of the simplest types of gift-giving is when a donor makes an endowment gift during life but retains a fixed life income as a result. This can produce a partial income tax deduction and, in addition, the interest earnings are also partially tax-free.
For Your Consideration
It is important to note that documenting your bequest does not make it binding or irrevocable. In the event of a change in circumstances, you may modify your estate plan accordingly. However, we do ask that you inform us as a courtesy if this is the case.
Please be advised that the information presented on this website is not intended to be a substitute for professional financial advice.
